Job Description

Rayne Consultancy Limited is seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to join the catering team of a renowned NHS facility in Central London. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact on patient recovery through the preparation of high-quality, nutritious meals.


Role Details

  • Pay Rate: £13 per hour (PAYE) + £1.56 WTR (£14.56 total per hour)
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Location: Central London
  • Duration: 6-month ongoing contract

Job Overview

As a Chef, you will play a key role in preparing and delivering well-presented, nutritionally balanced meals that meet the diverse dietary requirements of patients and visitors. Your knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety protocols, and temperature controls will ensure the highest standards of quality and care are maintained.


Key Responsibilities

  • Organize the preparation and cooking of meals to meet the required standards for patients and staff, including special diets and function catering.
  • Adhere to safe working procedures as outlined in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Follow “due diligence” processes for cook-chill procedures in line with food safety policies.
  • Carry out basic meat and vegetable preparation tasks.
  • Step in to cover breakfast service when required.
  • Assist the Sous Chefs with retail food offerings.
  • Support patient feeding orders and ensure timely delivery of meals.
  • Maintain economical and efficient use of all materials and kitchen equipment.
  • Participate in general food preparation and kitchen duties.

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a busy catering environment, ideally within healthcare or large-scale operations.
  • A thorough understanding of food safety standards and the ability to maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A team player with the ability to work collaboratively under pressure.
